Academic Profile

School Community

Grace Preparatory School is a private, non-denominational Christian school in Stafford, Virginia. Grace Prep is home to students from eight counties in Northern Virginia, including Stafford, Spotsylvania, Prince William, Fairfax and beyond. We are just outside Quantico Marine Corps Base and centrally located between 6 other military installations. In addition to the military, we have families who work in the government and private sector.

Educational Model

Grace Prep employs a unique educational model that combines the best of traditional education with a strong partnership between the school and the home, in which the student is the greatest benefactor. Students attend classes on campus in the central classroom three days a week and continue their studies in the satellite classroom on alternate days. Smaller class sizes allow for greater instructional effectiveness and better use of classroom time. Satellite classroom study is monitored by parents who foster greater independence and responsibility. Parents work under the direct supervision of the professional educator (teacher) who provides all direct instruction in the central classroom.
University-Model® students are well-prepared to responsibly manage the rigors of a college schedule and curriculum. The administration and board of Grace Preparatory School work directly with the Executive Director of the National Association of University-Model® Schools, an AdvancED accredited educational corporation. Through its certification process, Grace Prep is held accountable for strong standards in academics, character development, student activities, and school administration and governance.

Report Cards

Grading periods are divided into two semesters, each comprised of two terms. A final grade for each class, consisting of the average of a semester’s two terms, is given at the completion of each semester and is the only grade recorded on the student’s permanent transcript. The two semester grades for a course stand alone; they are not averaged. Grades and grade point averages (non-weighed) are calculated according to the following scale:

Our student’s GPA is based on a 4.5 scale and our Honors courses are on a 4.8 scale.
